Additional Historical Information
Aircraft struck a person just after becoming airborne from a sea ice strip approximately 140 miles from Deadhorse, AK on 20-Mar-2018. The aircraft was participating in ICEX 2018 exercise at the time, and it sustained significant damage to left wing and aileron.
As it was unflyable, and located on deteriorating sea ice, the choices became abandon the aircraft where it sat, or devise a plan to have it slung out from the very remote location. Over the ensuing days the engines and wings were able to be removed, and it was eventually recovered successfully from the ice by Tanalian & Northern Pioneer Helicopters.
