16-Mar-1995 - Ditched into the Pacific Ocean approximately 175 nautical miles northeast of Honolulu, Hawaii while on delivery flight to Great Barrier Airlines of Auckland, New Zealand. The aircraft began experiencing significant fuel flow problems 6 hours & 30 minutes into the 17 hour ferry flight from Oakland, CA to Honolulu, HI which culminated in the ditching just after the 14 hour mark. All three occupants survived and were rescued.
Additional Historical Information
There are anecdotal reports that Airspur leased this aircraft to Golden West Airlines during 1970, however there remains no definitive record of such. During 1970 Golden West actually had several of their own aircraft leased to Airspur. If a lease to Golden West occurred, it is possible that it may have been in very late 1970/early 1971 when the aircraft was in the possession of MAC. During that period Golden West was in litigation with bankruptcy trustees of Airspur attempting to repossess their own Twin Otters.
