Additional Historical Information

24-Feb-1981 Sustained major damage to nose section upon hitting a hard sastrugi on take-off from the Mount Charity area. The aircraft continued to destination at Rothera, but damage was unable to be repaired on site. The aircraft was dismantled & shipped to the U.K. and repairs were completed by Mann Aviation Ltd. at Fairoaks, UK by 12-Jul-1981.

18-Nov-1981 Sustained major damage (again) when it was torn from its tie-down ropes and overturned during gale force winds at the Rothera Station. It was dismantled and shipped to the U.K. Following assessment it was determined that the aircraft was beyond economical repair, and the fuselage remained present at Fairoaks, UK until 1987.

The remains of the aircraft were sold in the U.S. in 1987, and were loaded into a container at Fairoaks 12/14-Mar-1987. The purchaser was reportedly based in Washington State.
